Upcycle and Uplift Your Wardrobe: Learn the art of hand embroidery using off-cut fabrics

Thursday 13 July
18:30 – 20:00
Makers Space

Learn how to upcycle and customise your existing clothes using hand-sewing embroidery.

Join Lydia Bolton for an interactive workshop and learn the art of hand embroidery while upcycling and customising your existing clothes. In this workshop, you’ll be taught the technique of couching, a hand-sewing embroidery method that can be used on many different materials. Use the versatile art of embroidery to create colourful motifs, monograms and patterns to uplift items from your wardrobe, cover up stains or marks and simply make them unique to you.

This workshop focuses on hand-sewing and is open to all levels of sewer, from newbies to experienced sewers. Lydia’s key aim with her work is to help reduce textile waste and give new value to existing items, so we encourage you to bring in your own clothes to sew on. Workshop materials will be provided.
